AMCAW Update

Oct 31, 2018 | News

The executive board of AMCAW is committed to keeping our membership informed. With this in mind, here is an update on our recent activities.

We had our first full board meeting in October and have scheduled monthly board meetings going forward using an online meeting platform which worked quite well. It was delightful to have 13 of our 16 board members on video conference for the first time. We foresee great things as this talented group of leaders begins to influence the direction and implementation of the organization.

We have taken the next big steps toward securing our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization status. This is a complex undertaking and we hope to have the support of a pro bono attorney to complete the process. We have completed the application to request legal assistance through Pro Bono Partnership. The benefits of non-profit status include the obvious, such as not paying taxes and being eligible for charitable contributions. Other benefits include discounts on software and services that are only available to non-profits. We will keep you updated on our progress.

What comes next for AMCAW is delivering on the promise of our mission:

To encourage a flourishing international metal clay community by nurturing artistic and instructional excellence and providing resources to inspire, engage and support artists of all levels.

To do this, we will be relying heavily on our membership to fill the various committee roles and follow through on their initiatives. We invite you to see the article about creating committees to learn more about how you can be involved.
