Meet Lora Hart, AMCAW Volunteer

Aug 16, 2024 | Meet Our Volunteers

Did you know that AMCAW is managed and run by a large team of volunteers? All metal clay artists, they share their professional skills and energy to help AMCAW create and bring you more programs, tutorials, and fun. We thought you’d enjoy meeting some of these fabulous volunteers – and perhaps become a volunteer yourself!

Before becoming involved with metal clay, Lora was a make-up artist in Los Angeles for seventeen years. In 2000, there was an actor’s strike that put many people out of work for six months. She had time on her hands. She walked past a jewelry school in Santa Monica and noticed a flyer at the bottom of the picture window that said $50. She thought she’d bend down to see what could possibly be $50 at a jewelry school, and it was something called metal clay.  So – she signed up and the rest is history.

Lora immediately became active in the developing metal clay community, and attended many of the old PMC conferences where she met many artists with whom she is still good friends today.

When AMCAW formed, Lora immediately volunteered and has been active in our organization’s growth. She is the team leader for the Advanced Studies team, which developed the Mastery Modules. She is also a member of the Volunteer Support team, and serves on AMCAW’s board of directors.

As a designer, educator, and creativity coach, Lora’s passion for the art and business of jewelry making has taken her across the United States. She greatly enjoys helping other makers explore their own passions, develop their craft, and expand their skill set. Having started creating with metal clay in 2000, Lora holds certifications with Rio Grande, PMC Connection, and Art Clay Silver.
