Meet Rebecca Lockwood, AMCAW Volunteer

Oct 24, 2024 | Meet Our Volunteers

Did you know that AMCAW is managed and run by a large team of volunteers? All metal clay artists, they share their professional skills and energy to help AMCAW create and bring you more programs, tutorials, and fun. We thought you’d enjoy meeting some of these fabulous volunteers – and perhaps become a volunteer yourself!

Rebecca Lockwood joined AMCAW’s Marketing and Communications team this year, and is the talented artist behind the graphics you see in AMCAW social media.

Rebecca first began working in metal clay in 2007 and took her first PMC certification course through Rio Grande from Terry Kovalcik. A few years later, she found Cindy Pope and asked for her help on her metal clay journey and has since taken PMC levels 1, 2, and 3. Cindy introduced Rebecca to base metal clay – a big game changer.

Rebecca began taking classes with Hadar Jacobson in 2017, and now she loves working in all mediums. She has also added the Curio Silhouette to her arsenal of tools, and she is in love with the variety of pieces she can create! She is working on her accreditation with Hadar Jacobson in base metal clay and is also finishing up a Master’s Certification in Art Clay Silver with Ilianna Carillo, from Albuquerque.

Lately, Rebecca has been working mostly with EZ960 and Aureus Bronze as she can make them flexible enough to etch with her Curio. However, she LOVES the Steel XL and Brilliant Bronze from Hadar, so she uses those frequently. She is currently making a series of chakra pendants and earrings, a yoga pendant series and making some image specific pieces to sell in a little shop in Sisters, Oregon called Fika Coffee.

What is a fun fact about Rebecca? She taught country line dance for five years and had a dance group called the Boot Scooters. They had a blast dancing at fairs, retirement homes and at their local Moose, Eagles, and Elks clubs. What a fun time!

Anything she has done with Hadar has been right up there as her favorite classes! But along with that, she loved the Hidden Scroll pendant from Ruth Greening in Lacey, WA.

Rebecca looks forward to travel. She loved SINTER and can’t wait for the next one. Also, she looks forward to the online activity – and plans to participate more.

Rebecca likes that she can utilize her graphic and art talent on the Marketing and Communications team that appreciates what she has to offer.  She gets to create art that is posted to social media – how cool is that? She loves to play around with graphic software and is having a blast in CANVA.

Rebecca grew up in the countryside of Northern Idaho with a focus on spirituality/metaphysics. She considers herself an agnostic person (letsism) with an open mind. It is natural, therefore, that she is pursuing a career in Reiki and spiritual healing, something that is very much needed in our world today. Currently a level II Holy Fire Reiki, she will become a Master Reiki practitioner in Nov 2024.

Rebecca Lockwood lives in the amazing and beautiful Pacific northwest and is inspired to create pieces that are imbued with magical energy. She crafts this artwork in her Sheena shed, with whom she has a wonderful relationship and many lively conversations along with her jewelry model Celeste. She crafts each focal piece of jewelry by hand – something that gives her the ability to infuse them with a high vibrational energy, love, and healing. She has a passionate relationship with her art and recognizes the life force inherent in all forms.

The jewelry and art Rebecca crafts stands for so much more than a sale to her and she feels great joy in gifting her creations in addition to selling them. What she understands is that each piece is a small reflection of herself – and that is exactly the intention behind each piece.
