Oct 13, 2025 | Challenges
Big Screen Themes Challenge
For Anca, Hollywood is a dreamland. The sparkle of the ’30s, the beauties of the ‘40s, the romances of the ’50s, the adventurous spirit of the ’60s: Hollywood is a glamourous world filled with extravagant stories. Everything looks like an impossible reality. Anca intended her giant ring to reflect this extravagant and crazy fantasy. The ring is too big, too bold, too much. Like Hollywood.
Anca loves stones, and buys, collects and treasures them whenever she can. Her background as geologist might be behind this inclination, but it really isn’t. The plain truth is that Anca can’t resist gathering stones.
So, she built her project around an enormous, gorgeous Citrine. Such a huge stone required a special approach, and she had to change the prongs several times but finally managed to fit them to the stone. Anca learned a lot about fitting large natural stones in prongs, and she also made a matching pendant with another large Citrine.
About Anca
Anca lives in Bucharest, Romania, Europe. Bucharest has a very strong personality; it is busy and has crowded traffic, noise and dust. But it also offers a very active cultural life.
Anca started her metal clay journey at the end of 2016 with Corina Gheorghe. Anca was very fortunate to have such a great instructor in her neighbourhood. Jewellery has always been Anca’s top hobby. She fell in love with metal clay from the first moment she touched it. She also likes glass, ceramics, beads, textiles, stones, and resin, among others. Combining them is always interesting, challenging and very fun.
Anca is extremely curious and is attracted to new techniques, beautiful designs, and challenging projects. She takes classes, reads thousands of tutorials and books, and follows metal clay artists online. She tends to fall back on several themes through her work: waves, leaves, angels, and cosmic stories.
Anca is constantly in touch online with the AMCAW community as well as her first instructor, Corina, and some of the metal clay friends from Corina’s Artkimia school.
Anca constantly enters challenges, mostly those launched by AMCAW. She was very interested in the Big Screen challenge theme. She feels there is nothing to lose by entering a challenge: you only gain experience and professional feedback from the jurors. Anca encourages others to challenge themselves!
